For my first free project I did a CD cover for my friends. I used a format that InDesign already made I don't suggest this technique because you can only put words in where is allows for. So I couldn't do much with my text without deleting the guides.

Rex's Checkpoint Blog

What i have learned so far in digital design is how to make 3D shapes in Illustrator. I have also learned how to blend together objects better in both Illustrator and Photoshop. My hopes for the last few weeks of the semester are to learn more about Adobe InDesign because its not something I have used a whole lot in the past. What challenges me still is well there are alot of things especially with illustrater one thing is im still not very good at blending light shadings of different pictures together. I feel I have grown in my abilities to create digital objects like the 3D objects Jacquie Parks showed us how to create. I'm still not sure on my final projects for the last stretch of digital design just yet.

Logo Help Website!

This website didn't have any videos but it gave some good advice about things you should do with your logo. It also gave the advice to keep your logo simple and easy to remember because no one wants to have to remember a very complicated logo. They showed how to use the envelope warp wrap tool and the shear tool.

Rex's panorama project

In my panorama project I used the the hue/saturation to make the pictures all about the same lighting. Than i took the eraser with a soft edge and went over where the pictures went together to make the edges less noticeable.

Rex's 13 lessons blog

The lessons i took the most from were lesson one "Experiment" and lesson 8 "Find A Point Of Interest." Its good to experiment and take lots of pictures of different things in different because if your always taking pictures of the same thing all the time you photography will be boring to other people and eventually it probably will be to you too. Finging a point of interest i just think makes taking pictures more interesting for the person taking them.

OK so i tried to take the test drive but i couldn't unless i downloaded flash player but my computer wouldn't let me. But by looking at the front screen picture is look like good place for people like me who don't have photoshop on their home computers to go and work on pictures. Its looks like you can do most of the same editing that you can do on photoshop. But unfornately i cant tell much more about it from jsut the front screen pictures.

Rex's Movie Poster

For my movie poster i cut and put pasted and pictures than i used the free transform tool to rescale them. I also you the lasso tool to reform most of the white off of picture that had white backgrounds to them. Than i used the paint bucket tool to replace color from things that i deleted color from.

This is my determination photo. I got this photo from flickr. I didn't do a whole lot to this picture i add a text box and put determination in it and gave it a drop shadow. The only other thing i did was made it black and white. I thought the picture looked awesome so i just left it after that.

This picture is my picture for inspiration. I got it from flickr. I added the word inspiration to it and gave the word a drop shadow. Effect than I turned the picture black and white and than inverted the colors.

Interview Project

I interviewed Chris Forslund a college student at Wayne State College who is Majoring in Graphic Design. Here is what he told me 1. Basic design principles? I would have to say pure creativity you be the heart of all designing. It takes a creative mind to even to start thinking about a design. 2. Tips for success in the field? Start working with other designers depending on what type of designing it is but for a graphic designer working for a someone else is a good place to start. 3. Advice to a novice designer? Always let your mind take you new places it is a good thing to have a broad view of things when it comes to designing.

Photoshop Podcasts

I watched a few podcasts videos and the one i liked the most was a quick tips video on how to creat comicbooks effects on you photshop lessons. They showed it in a very easy way to understand and it looks very cool. Also what i like about it is that its totally non destructive to your picture.

What I Liked and Disliked about Apple Student Gallery.

I liked the artwork, movies, and animations. I think its a good place for students in design to post there art work. I think they it was a very interesting website but has some room for improvement. I think they should expand the site so that you dotn have to be 18 to post pictures to the webiste. Because I'm sure many students under the age of 18 would use this website without havig to have a teacher or someone they knew older than 18 to post their pictures and things for them.

What i learned from atomic learning

I learned how to use a camera to crop photos. I also learned how to create layers to my picture. I learned to how to get rid of imperfections in my pictures as well.

1st Blog Post

Hi my name is Rex Stowell i go to St. Mary's and i am 16 years old. I have some experince with adobe photoshop but not very much. I have only use it for creating and editing pictures and designing covers for school projects. But i would liek to get better at editing pictures and adding texts and stuff to those pictures. I am hoping by taking digital design it will help me in further increasing my knowledge of adobe photoshop and how to use it.
